What are Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin, shell-like pieces of porcelain that are placed over your teeth to cosmetically enhance their appearance. Dentists apply sturdy bonding material to fasten veneers into place, and when the procedure is complete, the tooth and porcelain shells are highly durable and can last as long as twenty to thirty years.

What are Porcelain Veneers’ Advantages?
A couple of major advantages exist to getting porcelain veneers. The first advantage is that they create an extremely natural-looking appearance. Actual tooth enamel has the characteristic of being translucent; that is, it allows some light to make its way through to the inside of the tooth. In the past, the materials used to repair teeth were not translucent; this meant that false teeth had an unreal, fake-looking appearance. Porcelain’s resemblance to enamel’s glass-like translucence gives it its natural quality.

Resistance to staining is the other big advantage of porcelain veneers. Often, dental bonding materials combined with wine, tobacco, tea, or coffee mean stains and obvious discoloration. As a ceramic material, porcelain’s glass-like qualities will not stain or discolor over time!
