One approach is that we give you an extremely safe and mild sedative pill to take the night before your appointment.

Another approach for added comfort is to take a pill the night before, and then a second pill in the dental office an hour before the treatment is to start. This is an excellent technique for more anxious patients. Hours will pass like minutes and no treatment will be done until you are absolutely comfortable. This is very safe, as you will not be asleep as in a general anesthesia. One of the things that patients like best about anti-anxiety dentistry is after the appointment they had very little memory of the dental treatment. In these cases, it is necessary that the patient arrange to have someone drive them to and from the dentist as driving capabilities will be impaired.

Nitrous Oxide
After arriving at your appointment, another option that is available to the patient is nitrous oxide—also known as laughing gas. Nitrous oxide places you in a frame of mind that allows you to be unconcerned about your dental procedure and to relax and be comfortable.
